NASHVILLE, March 8 (UPI) -- Pekka Rinne had to make only 15 saves Tuesday in the Nashville Predators' 4-2 win over Colorado.

The Predators outshot Colorado 31-17 and remained in fifth place in the Western Conference, four points behind fourth-place Detroit.

Sergei Kostitsyn scored the decisive goal late in the second period. Mike Fisher and Brandon Yip scored, and Martin Erat closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.

Paul Stastny had a goal and an assist for Colorado. Jamie McGinn also scored, however, the Avalanche never had more than nine shots on goal in a period.

They managed just three shots in the first period, one of which was McGinn's 16th goal of the season just 1:14 into the contest.

Colorado's Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 30 shots.
