PHILADELPHIA, March 6 (UPI) -- A shorthanded goal by Maxime Talbot in the second period turned out to be the game-winner Tuesday in the Philadelphia Flyers' 3-2 victory over Detroit.
The Red Wings lost their second straight and fell two points behind St. Louis in the race for the Central Division title. The Flyers have captured three in a row.
Philadelphia's goals came in succession after Henrik Zetterberg gave Detroit the early lead.
Jakub Voracek tied it for the Flyers with 6:10 to go in the first period and Claude Giroux put Philadelphia in front for good less than 5 minutes later.
Talbot's goal came with 5:50 to go in the second and Detroit climbed back within one on Johan Franzen's 25th of the season midway through the third.
Ilya Bryzgalov made 37 saves to get the victory.
Joey MacDonald, making only his 11th appearance of the season, stopped 20-of-23 shots for the Red Wings.
