NHL: Pittsburgh 5, Colorado 1

DENVER, March 4 (UPI) -- Evgeni Malkin continued his hot play with his 38th goal of the season Saturday and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Colorado 5-1 for their fifth straight win.

Malkin fired home a bouncing puck 5 1/2 minutes into the second period for a 3-0 Pittsburgh lead, tying him with Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos for the NHL scoring lead with 80 points. The Penguins center has racked up six goals and five assists in his last seven games.

Steve Sullivan, Deryk Engelland, Richard Park and Arron Asham also found the net for Pittsburgh.

Marc-Andre Fleury earned the victory with 35 saves.

Matt Hunwick scored and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 23 saves for Colorado.
