TAMPA, Fla., March 2 (UPI) -- Ryan Malone scored 1:58 into overtime Friday, lifting the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers.

The Rangers let a two-goal lead get away and missed a chance to tie Vancouver for the largest point total in the NHL.

Vancouver has 90 and the one point the Rangers earned Friday left them with 89, tied for second place with Detroit.

After falling behind 2-0 early in the second period, Tampa Bay got consecutive goals from Tom Pyatt, Teddy Purcell and Steven Stamkos. It was the NHL-leading 45th of the season for Stamkos, but Brandon Dubinsky tied it for the Rangers with 3:27 left in regulation.

Mathieu Garon made 16 saves in the victory. The four Tampa Bay goals came against Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 27 shots.
