NBA: Denver 104, Portland 95

DENVER, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Ty Lawson was one of seven Denver players to reach double figures Wednesday, a balanced effort that brought the Nuggets a 104-95 win over Portland.

Denver opened a 17-point halftime lead and held on to snap a two-game slide. It was only the fourth win for the Nuggets in 14 games.

Lawson scored 18 points, Timofey Mozgov had 14 for the Nuggets and both Al Harrington and Kenneth Faried had 13.

Denver claimed 21 offensive rebounds and won the overall battle of the boards 54-36.

Portland, which has lost three times in five outings, came up with 21 points from Jamal Crawford and 20 from LaMarcus Aldridge.

Denver jumped past Portland into second place in the Northwest Division, a distant 9 1/2 games behind Oklahoma City.
