CANTON, Ohio, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- The New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals will meet Aug. 5 in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, the NFL said Wednesday.
The Hall of Fame Game is the traditional kick-off to the league's pre-season schedule.
New Orleans last appeared in the Canton game in 2007, when it lost 20-7 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and are 1-3 all-time in Hall of Fame Games.
The Cardinals, then based in St. Louis, played in the contest's inaugural edition in 1962, tying the New York Giants 21-21, and have made three appearances in the event since then, but none since 1986.
Last year's scheduled Hall of Fame between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams was canceled due to the NFL lockout.
Before the game, Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf will be inducted into the Class of 2012 Hall of Fame.
