Tomic, Sweeting take Delray Beach wins

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Bernard Tomic of Australia and American Ryan Sweeting were among the first-round winners Monday at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.

The eighth-seeded Tomic handled 2006 champion Tommy Haas 6-4, 6-3 while Sweeting pounded fellow American Donald Young 6-1, 6-1 at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center.

Israeli Dudi Sela and Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan also won on the tourney's first day.
