PITTSBURGH, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Brad Thiessen earned a victory with 22 saves in his first career NHL start Sunday, backstopping the Pittsburgh Penguins' 4-2 win over Columbus.
Thiessen, recalled from last week from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, turned aside all nine shots he saw in the third period to claim his first career victory.
Pascal Dupuis netted the go-ahead goal in final frame while Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Joe Vitale also scored as the Pens notched a third straight win.
Steve Sullivan and Matt Cooke chipped in with a pair of assists for Pittsburgh.
Rick Nash, the subject of persistent trade-deadline rumors, and Vinny Prospal scored for last-place Columbus.
Curtis Sanford yielded four goals on 40 shots for the Blue Jackets.
