DETROIT, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Gabriel Landeskog scored twice, and Steve Downie added a goal and two assists for Colorado Saturday in the Avalanche's 4-3 win over Detroit.

Ryan O'Reilly, who centers a line between Landeskog and Downie, contributed three assists as Colorado helped its playoff chances with its third straight win.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere earned the victory with 28 saves.

The Avalanche improved to 6-2-1 in their last nine games. They came into the game two points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Jiri Hudler tallied a pair of goals and Jimmy Howard turned aside 23 shots as the Red Wings lost their second straight at Joe Louis Arena following an NHL-record, 23-game home winning streak.
