Austria's Hirscher wins men's slalom

BANSKO, Bulgaria, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Marcel Hirscher of Austria won his second World Cup race in two days Sunday with a convincing victory in the men's slalom at Bansko, Bulgaria.

Hirscher finished with a combined time of 1 minute, 52.64 seconds, easily besting Andre Myhrer of Sweden and pulling to within 18 points of the overall World Cup points lead held by the injured Ivica Kostelic of Croatia.

Myhrer finished with a 1:53.21. Stefano Gross of Italy placed third and Nolan Kasper was the top American finisher in sixth place.

Hirscher turned in the fastest time in the second run to return to the podium just a day after he captured the giant slalom at Bansko.
