Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24


MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Infielder Alexi Casilla, who has been in and out of the Minnesota lineup the past several seasons, signed a one-year contract with the Twins Wednesday.
The Twins will pay Casilla $1.38 million and avoid arbitration.
The 27-year-old Dominican Republic native, who the Twins obtained from the Los Angeles Angels' system in 2005, has hit .252 with 10 home runs and 117 runs batted in in 409 career games, all with Minnesota. Last season he batted .260 with two homers and 21 RBI in 97 games.
