Billups has Achilles surgery

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups had surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon Wednesday.

The procedure, which was labeled a success, came several days after he was declared lost for the season after tearing his left Achilles tendon in a game against Orlando.

Billups, 35, was averaging 14.9 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 30.4 minutes a game before he was hurt.
