Korda up 203 spots in women's golf ranking

VICTORIA, Australia, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Jessica Korda's first LPGA Tour victory rocketed her up 203 places in the world women's golf rankings Monday.

Korda, 18, in her second year on the LPGA Tour, won a six-player playoff Sunday at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open with a birdie on the second extra hole. Her previous best tournament finish was a tie for 19th.

As a result she goes from 285th to No. 82 in the world rankings.

That dramatic charge wasn't reflected in the very top of the rankings, however. Brittany Lincicome and Stacy Lewis, two of those in the playoff with Korda, each move up one spot -- to eighth and ninth, respectively -- while Kim In-kyung goes from eighth to No. 10.

Yani Tseng, who had won the two previous women's Australian Opens and was tied for eighth in Victoria this year, is well established in the No. 1 ranking. Her rankings point average is 15.81, nearly 7 points ahead of the field.

No. 2 is Suzann Pettersen at 9.00, barely ahead of third-ranked Choi Na-yeon (8.99) and Cristie Kerr (8.60) isn't far back in fourth.
