NHL: Florida 4, New York Islanders 1

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Tomas Fleischmann and Kris Versteeg each notched a goal and an assist Sunday, propelling the Florida Panthers past the New York Islanders 4-1.

Fleischmann's 18th score of the year on a redirection of a Versteeg pass put the Panthers ahead for good at 2-1 less than 5 minutes into the second period.

Versteeg followed 11 1/2 minutes later with a power-play tally and the Southeast Division-leading Panthers extended their lead over Washington to four points with a second straight road win.

Jose Theodore earned the victory, turning aside 26-of-27 shots.

Frans Nielsen scored for the Islanders, who suffered only their third regulation loss in 12 games.

Evgeni Nabokov started in net but was pulled after two periods, yielding four goals on 15 shots. Al Montoya turned aside four shots in the third.
