ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Free throws by Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia in the final 16 seconds of overtime Friday gave Atlanta just enough to fight off Orlando 89-87.
The Magic wasted a fourth-quarter comeback in which they rallied from 8 points down with 2:30 to play. Dwight Howard closed out the surge with a game-tying dunk with 2 seconds remaining.
Orlando fell behind in the extra period before climbing within a point on Ryan Anderson's long-range shot with 1:07 to go. The Magic, however, could manage only 1 more point the rest of the way.
Williams made 1-of-2 foul shots to give Atlanta an 88-86 lead. Jason Richardson hit 1-of-2 for Orlando with 11 seconds to play and Pachulia did the same for Atlanta with 10 seconds left.
A 3-point attempt to win it by Orlando's Jameer Nelson bounced off the rim with 4 seconds to go.
Josh Smith had 23 points and 19 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won two in a row. Joe Johnson added 16.
Anderson scored 21 for the Magic and Howard produced 19 points and 19 rebounds.
