ATLANTA, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Josh Smith sent Atlanta soaring to an 18-point halftime lead and he finished with 28 points Wednesday in bringing the Hawks a 97-87 win over Indiana.

Atlanta ended a three-game losing streak, all of those setbacks coming at home.

Smith also grabbed 12 rebounds, while Joe Johnson added 20 points and eight assists.

The Hawks hit 9-of-21 from 3-point range and outrebounded the Pacers by a dozen.

Indiana, which had won five of its previous six, got 21 points from Danny Granger, and 15 each from David West and Tyler Hansbrough.

Atlanta put together a 20-4 run in the second quarter to take control. Indiana cut its deficit to seven early in the fourth quarter, but a 7-2 rush by the Hawks ended the Pacers' hopes.
