
BOSTON, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce's 15 points enabled him to pass Larry Bird on Boston's all-time scoring list Tuesday and the Celtics posted a 94-84 victory over Charlotte.
Pierce surpassed Bird's 21,791 points, moving into second place in Celtics history. John Havlicek is the Celtics' all-time leading scorer with 26,395 points.
Pierce also notched nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds, while Kevin Garnett led Boston with 22 points.
Ray Allen contributed 17 points, and Rajon Rondo added 10 points and 14 assists as the surging Celtics corralled their fifth straight victory.
Charlotte, meanwhile, continued to struggle, going down to its 12th consecutive loss.
Reggie Williams put in 21 points, Derrick Brown added 20 and Kemba Walker had 16 for the Bobcats.
