NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Lakers Coach Mike Brown was suspended for one game and fined by the NBA Monday for actions that led to his ejection from a contest last week.
Brown was to miss Monday's game at Philadelphia.
Brown was thrown out of a Saturday game, which the Lakers lost 96-87 to Utah. He was apparently upset at an early fourth-quarter non-call in which Utah's Earl Watson stole the ball from Pau Gasol.
Brown said he thought a foul should have been called. He rushed onto the court and was given two technical fouls. He then appeared to have made contract with referee Zach Zarba.
The league said the contact with a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner merited a one-game suspension and $25,000 fine.
It is Brown's first ejection of the season.
