NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Minnesota forward Kevin Love, the Timberwolves' leading scorer and rebounder, has been suspended two games by the NBA, the league said Monday.
An NBA release said Love was cited for "driving his foot into the upper body and face of" Houston's Luis Scola after Scola had fallen or been knocked to the floor.
Game officials didn't call a foul on the play but the Rockets protested to the point where two technical fouls were called on them. Love said after the game the contact was unintentional.
The league, however, ruled the play a Flagrant Two foul and suspended Love without pay. He will miss games against Sacramento Tuesday and at Memphis Wednesday.
Love is fourth in the NBA with a 25.0 points-per-game average and his rebound average of 13.7 is second in the league.
