Monaco takes Vina del Mar in three sets

VINA DEL MAR, Chile, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Argentine Juan Monaco claimed his fourth career title Sunday, besting countryman Carlos Berlocq in the final of the VTR Open tennis event.

Monaco dropped the second set in a tiebreaker but quickly rallied for 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1 decision over Berlocq at Vina del Mar, Chile, improving to 4-7 in his career finals.

It was Monaco's first ATP Tour trophy since 2007.

Berlocq was appearing in his first final.

The 28-year-old is winless in four lifetime match-ups against Monaco.
