MONTPELLIER, France, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Tomas Berdych beat Gael Monfils in three sets Sunday in taking the championship match at the Sud de France Open tennis tournament.
Berdych battled Monfils for more than 2 hours before finishing off a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win. It was his seventh ATP title in 13 finals appearances. Monfils, who won the tournament in 2010, fell to 4-13 in tournament finals.
