UNIONDALE, N.Y., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Brad Boyes and Jason Pominville scored in a shootout Saturday and the Buffalo Sabres came away with a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.

Boyes tallied in the first round of the tie-breaker, firing a quick wrist shot past the glove side of Islanders goalie Al Montoya, and Pominville sealed the victory with a goal in the second round.

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, meanwhile, turned aside attempts by P.A. Parenteau and Frans Nielsen as the Sabres completed a rally from a 3-1 first-period deficit.

Nathan Gerbe, Derek Roy and Paul Gaustad scored in regulation, and Miller made 35 saves for Buffalo.

Montoya stopped 34-of-37 shots, and Nielsen ended with two goals and an assist for the Islanders.
