CHAMONIX, France, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Jan Hudec took first place and Canadian teammate Erik Guay placed third in Saturday's World Cup men's downhill in Chamonix, France.

Roman Baumann of Austria was second, and another Canadian, Benjamin Thomsen, placed fifth.

"Those Canadians put on quite a show," observed Sasha Rearick, head coach of the U.S. men's team. "They lit it up."

Hudec finished in 2 minutes, 03.25 seconds, comfortably ahead of Baumann at 2:03.78.

Bode Miller was the top U.S. finisher in eighth place and Didier Cuche came in seventh to maintain his lead in the World Cup downhill standings.
