NEW YORK, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Derrick Rose scored 32 points Thursday and the Chicago Bulls survived his missed free throw with 5 seconds left to defeat New York 105-102.
Rose delivered 15 of his points in the fourth quarter while the Bulls were fighting off a New York rally, but with a chance to clinch the victory in the final moments he could make only 1-of-2 from the line. That gave New York a chance to force overtime but Carmelo Anthony missed a 3-point attempt from the right wing at the buzzer.
Chicago is 2-2 on a nine-game road trip, and prevented the Knicks from winning back-to-back games for the first time since early January. New York has lost 10 of its last 12.
Rose, named Thursday as a starter on the Eastern Conference All-Star team, had 13 assists while Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver both had 16 points for the Bulls.
Amare Stoudemire scored 34 points and had 11 rebounds for the Knicks. Anthony had 26 points.
