ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Michael Berrer ousted top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic in straight sets Wednesday at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors tennis tournament.

Berrer lost just 15 points over 10 service games in a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ljubicic. Berrer took nearly two-thirds of the points off Ljubicic's second serve and had three breaks. Two of the breaks came in Ljubicic's last two games serving.

Berrer advances to the quarterfinals against Jurgen Melzer, who knocked off No. 5-seeded Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-3. Melzer won almost as many points (24-26) as Seppi when Seppi was serving.

Also in the second round, seventh-seeded Robin Haase just got past Matthias Bachinger 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3. Each player had four breaks but Haase had a pair in the final set to advance.

Defending champion Ivan Dodig, the No. 4 seed, won his first-round match Wednesday, holding off Marsel Ilhan 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in more than 2 hours. Dodig had 21 aces and saved both of Ilhan's break-point chances.

Also in the first round, Grega Zemlja squeaked by Antonio Veic 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6); Dudi Sela topped Andreas Beck 3-6, 6-3, 6-2; and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat Daniel Evans 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
