NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Carl Landry scored 17 points Friday, helping New Orleans break things open in the second half and snap a nine-game losing streak by downing Orlando 93-67.
The Hornets picked up just their fourth victory of the season, having last won Jan. 9 in Denver. Until Friday, that had been the lone New Orleans triumph since the Hornets captured their first two games of the season.
Orlando was unable to recover from the shock of losing a 27-point lead and the game to Boston Thursday. The Magic trailed New Orleans by 13 at halftime and took more than 3 minutes to produce a point in the third quarter.
Marco Belinelli had 15 points for New Orleans and Jason Smith had 14.
Dwight Howard scored 28 points with 16 rebounds for Orlando, which has lost four out of six. The Hornets hit half of their shots from the field and forced 23 turnovers.
