WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Nick Young helped Washington to a quick start Wednesday and, in a meeting of the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards downed Charlotte 92-75.
In their first game since head Coach Flip Saunders was fired and replaced with his top assistant, Randy Wittman, the Wizards won for just the third time this year, equaling the Bobcats' victory total. The Wizards had lost three in a row and Charlotte's losing streak was extended to six games.
Young scored 20 points and Andray Blatche added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Wizards held Charlotte to 28 first-half points while building a 20-point advantage at the break. Washington's John Wall made 6-of-9 from the field and scored 12 points.
Charlotte got 17 from Matt Carroll.
