KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Dan Forsman
rode a blazing-hot back nine to a second-round lead at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship Saturday in Hawaii, firing a 7-under 65.
Forsman needed only 30 shots to breeze through the final nine holes at Hualalai Golf Course in the Champions Tour season opener.
Forsman took over first place at minus-11 after pouring in a birdie putt on the par-3 seventeenth and went on to finish 36 holes at 12-under 132.
That was two shots better than Tom Watson (65), Brad Bryant (64) and Jeff Sluman (66), each of whom ended Saturday tied for second place at 10-under 134.
Forsman's partner, Michael Allen, bogeyed the 18th hole for a 4-under 68, ending the day knotted for fifth place with Jay Haas (69) at 9-under 135.
