NEW YORK, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara and Ottawa Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson Wednesday were named team captains for the 2012 NHL All-Star Game.

Under the league's 2-year-old all-star format, the pair choose up their teams in a Jan. 26 draft, three days before the contest at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario.

Chara is captain of the Bruins, while Alfredsson holds the same post with the Senators.

The league announced Chara's team will wear dark blue jerseys and Alfredsson's squad will wear white jerseys.
