Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu will be out of action for weeks with an unspecified upper-body injury, the team announced Monday.
Koivu, the Wild's leading scorer, is officially listed as week-to-week.
The all-star center has a separated shoulder and will be out at least a month, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune reported, citing sources it didn't name.
The newspaper said Koivu injured the shoulder Saturday during Minnesota's shootout loss to St. Louis.
The injury will force Koivu to miss the NHL All-Star game.
