HONOLULU, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Matt Every set himself up for a potential breakthrough weekend on the PGA Tour Friday by moving two shots in front midway through the Sony Open.

Every, who graduated to the PGA circuit by finishing among the top 25 money winners last year on the Nationwide Tour, shot a 6-under 64 at the Waialae Country Club for a 36-hole total of 10-under 130.

He has finished in the Top 10 of a tour event just once in his career.

David Hearn and Carl Pettersson were Tied for second at 132 while Pat Perez, Doug LaBelle and Brendon de Jonge were all at 133. De Jonge equaled the low round of his career with a 62.

The group at 134, tied for seventh place, included Sean O'Hair, Charles Howell III and Bud Cauley.

Cauley, 21, is the seventh player to join the tour without going through a qualifying tournament or spending time on the Nationwide circuit. He followed his opening-round 66 with a 68 Friday.

Steve Stricker, winner of the Tournament of Champions last week, was tied for 17th at 135.
