Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Jason Pominville scored the game's final goal with 5:47 left in the second period Friday and the Buffalo Sabres held on from there to defeat Toronto 3-2.
The Sabres ended a three-game skid after letting an early two-goal lead slip away. Toronto had won four in a row.
Matt Ellis and Paul Gaustad scored for the Sabres in the opening 3:53 but Toronto came back late in the first period to tie it on goals by Mikhail Grabovski and Joey Crabb.
Pominville's goal, his 15th of the season, came against Jonas Gustavsson, who stopped 22-of-25 shots.
The win went to Ryan Miller, who made 24 saves. Miller, who has won at lest 34 games in each of his last five seasons, has just 11 victories this season.
