Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DENVER, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Danilo Gallinari helped send Denver to a 20-point lead through three quarters Wednesday and the Nuggets held on to down New Jersey 123-115.
Denver ended a two-game skid, winning a shootout that saw the teams combine for 157 field goal attempts.
The Nuggets shot 59 percent and the Nets 51 percent while Denver hit 11-of-18 from 3-point range.
Gallinari was 7-of-11 from the field while Arron Afflalo and Corey Brewer both had 19 for the Nuggets.
Jordan Farmar scored 26 off the bench for the Nets, who have lost three in a row. New Jersey, the only NBA team without a home win this season, opened a four-game road trip.
