AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki was deadly from the field Tuesday, connecting on 9-of-10 shots on his way to 18 points in the Dallas Mavericks' 100-86 win over Detroit.

Shawn Marion netted 14 points and Vince Carter contributed 11 as the Mavericks won for the fifth time in seven games.

Detroit got 20 points from Will Bynum but it wasn't enough to prevent the fifth straight loss for the Pistons (2-8).
