NBA: Atlanta 106, New Jersey 101

NEWARK, N.J., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Josh Smith struck for 26 points Monday and the Atlanta Hawks beat New Jersey for a third time in the young season, besting the Nets 106-101.

Atlanta reeled off its third straight win overall with the help of Joe Johnson's 22 points and 20 from Jeff Teague.

New Jersey lost for the eighth time in 10 games to start the season despite Anthony Morrow's 20 points.

MarShon Brooks had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Deron Williams had 15 points and 14 assists for the Nets.
