CHICAGO, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp will miss 3-to-4 weeks with an unspecified upper-body injury, the team said Monday.
Sharp left Sunday's 3-2 loss to Detroit during the first period.
It was not clear how he sustained the injury but he was slashed across his left wrist by the Red Wings' Jiri Hudler just before scoring his 20th goal, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Sharp has also amassed 20 assists for 40 points in 42 games this season.
The loss of one of their top scorers came at a bad time for the Blackhawks, who are mired in a four-game losing streak.
"He's certainly had a good first half for us," Coach Joel Quenneville told the newspaper. "We have to check better and paying attention to detail and play tighter and off of that you might get more offense."
