Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge pumped in 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds Sunday, propelling the Trail Blazers to a 98-78 win over Cleveland.
Aldridge also provided four assists and four steals, while Wesley Matthews added 24 points, including a 3-pointer that capped a 10-3 run to close the first half and resulted in a 42-35 Portland lead.
Gerald Wallace contributed 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Blazers, who scored 28 points off 24 Cleveland turnovers and bounced back from a 102-77 drubbing at Phoenix Friday.
Kyrie Irving put in 21 points for the Cavs, who shot only 36.7 percent from the field.
