ST. LOUIS, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Brian Elliott only had to make 15 saves for his fifth shutout of the season, a 4-0 St. Louis Blues victory over Colorado Saturday.
Kevin Shattenkirk and Patrik Berglund scored in the first period to spark the Blues, who finished a three-game homestand with a 3-0-0 record.
David Backes and Jason Arnott contributed power-play goals in the Blues' victory.
The red-hot Avalanche, meanwhile, saw their four-game winning streak snapped.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 35-of-39 shots for Colorado.
