Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- New Jersey's Martin Brodeur turned aside 41 shots Saturday and the Devils logged a second straight win, 3-1 over Pittsburgh.
Brodeur rebounded from a 6-1 shellacking in his previous start to frustrate the Penguins, including stopping all 17 shots he saw in the second period.
Backup Johan Hedberg led the Devils to a 5-2 win over Florida Friday.
Adam Henrique and Ilya Kovalchuk contributed a goal and an assist each, while Dainius Zubrus also found the net for the victors.
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, dropped its fourth straight, with Evgeni Malkin managing the Penguins' only score.
Marc-Andre Fleury yielded three goals on 27 shots.
