NHL: Nashville 5, Carolina 2

NASHVILLE, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Patric Hornqvist scored two of Nashville's four power-play goals Saturday, carrying the Predators to a 5-2 victory over Carolina.

Hornqvist's tallies on the man-advantage came consecutively late in the second period and early in the third, handing Nashville a commanding 4-0 lead.

Shea Weber, Craig Smith and Ryan Ellis also found the net, lifting the Predators to their fourth win in five games.

Pekka Rinne earned the victory with 27 saves.

Jay Harrison netted both of Carolina's goals and Justin Peters let in five goals on 36 shots for the Hurricanes.
