LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Curtis Sanford logged his first shutout of the season Saturday and the Columbus Blue Jackets hung on for a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles.

Sanford finished with 31 saves, including all 14 he saw in the final period when the Kings were given a pair of power plays.

Sanford made some key stops during a 4-minute Kings man-advantage early in the final frame and held off another Los Angeles power play over the game's last 1:25.

Grant Clitsome notched the only goal of a contest for Columbus midway through the second period.

Jonathan Quick made 17 saves for the Kings, who went 0-for-8 on the power play.
