BRISBANE, Australia, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Kaia Kanepi posted a strong victory Saturday over Daniela Hantuchova in the title match at the Brisbane International tennis tournament in Australia.

Kanepi won nine consecutive games at one point in taking a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Hantuchova. It was the second WTA title for Kanepi, whose first championship came in Palermo, Italy, in 2010.

Kanepi was 0-3 lifetime against Hantuchova going into Saturday's final but turned the match after Hantuchova went up 2-1 in the first set. Kanepi won the next nine games, taking the first set and building a 4-0 lead in the second. She finished off the victory in 75 minutes.

Kanepi lost only 10 points in seven service games and didn't face a break point. She won five of the eight break chances she had against Hantuchova.

She knocked off a series of seeded players before reaching the finals. Kanepi beat seventh-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the second round and eliminated No. 2-seeeded Andrea Petkovic in the quarters. She won another straight-set decision over third-seeded Francesca Schiavone in Friday's semifinals.

Kanepi collects $71,900 for the championship while Hantuchova, who fell to 4-9 in finals matches, settled for $37,860.
