Hurd and Toby Lujan, both indicted by a federal grand jury in Dallas, are charged with one count of conspiracy to possess cocaine and one count of attempting to possess cocaine.
Hurd, 26, was arrested Dec. 14 outside Morton's The Steakhouse in Rosemont, Ill., after an undercover federal agent handed him a bag purportedly containing a kilogram of cocaine, court documents state.
Hurd, cut from the Bears two days after his arrest, and Lujan face up to life in prison if convicted of the conspiracy count, the U.S. attorney's office in Dallas said.
Hurd, who lives in Dallas, was to be paid $2 million by the Bears this season.
ESPN.com reported an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for Lujan, 26, also of Dallas.
