Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Boris Diaw's 27 points led a strong shooting effort Wednesday that pushed Charlotte to a 118-110 win over New York.
The Bobcats broke a four-game losing streak and won for just the second time this season by hitting 55 percent of their attempts from the field and making 7-of-11 from 3-point range.
Diaw made 12 of his 15 shots en route to his 27-point total. Gerald Henderson added 24 points and Byron Mullens had 16. Six Charlotte players scored in double figures and D.J. Augustin had 10 assists.
Carmelo Anthony had 32 points for the Knicks, who have lost two in a row, and Amare Stoudemire scored 25.
Charlotte led by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter.
