CHICAGO, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Former Blackhawk Ben Eager scored the decisive goal Monday in Edmonton's 4-3 victory over Chicago, which snapped the Oilers' seven-game road skid.
Eager, who played for the Blackhawks from 2007-10, shoveled a back-hander past Cory Crawford from the right circle, handing Edmonton a 4-2 lead 8:17 into the third period.
Ryan Smyth and Taylor Hall each added a goal and an assist and Andy Sutton scored for the Oilers. Devan Dubnyk earned the win with 39 saves.
Jimmy Hayes scored with 3:49 remaining to make it close, but Chicago couldn't come up with the equalizer.
Andrew Brunette and Jonathan Toews scored and Crawford finished with 26 saves for Edmonton.
