Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24


CHENNAI, India, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- No. 5-seeded Ivan Dodig rallied for a three-set win Monday in first-round action of the Aircel Chennai Open tennis tournament in India.
Dodig didn't manage a break-point chance until the third set in beating Vishnu Vardhan 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-1. He finished off all three of his opportunities in the deciding set.
Dudi Sela routed sixth-seeded Fabio Fognini 6-0, 6-1 in 58 minutes. Sela dropped just eight points over six service games and piled up six breaks in Fognini seven games serving.
India's Yuki Bhambri sailed through a 6-2, 6-3 win over Karol Beck and Benoit Paire needed less than an hour to dispatch Pere Riba 6-2, 6-1 in other first-round matches.
