SUNRISE, Fla., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Henrik Lundqvist allowed only a second-period goal Friday and the New York Rangers got off to a quick start in downing Florida 4-1.

The Rangers drove goaltender Scott Clemmensen from the game, scoring three times on their first 11 shots. It was New York's sixth win in seven games while the Panthers have dropped four out of five.

Carl Hagelin scored 35 seconds into the game and the Rangers also got first-period goals from Brad Richards and Michael Del Zotto. Brandon Dubinsky made it a 4-0 contest 7:41 into the second period.

Lundqvist gave up a goal to Matt Bradley midway through the second and made 27 saves to get the win.

Jose Theodore came on to replace Clemmensen and stopped 10-of-11 shots.

New York will next be in action when it travels to Philadelphia Monday for the annual Winter Classic, to be played outdoors at the home of the National League Phillies.
