NHL: Columbus 4, Dallas 1

DALLAS, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Two goals from Rick Nash and 36 saves by Steve Mason Thursday carried the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-1 win over Dallas.

The Blue Jackets became the last team in the NHL to post their 10th victory this season, snapping a six-game losing streak in the process.

Nash opened the scoring 3:50 into the first period and scored 6:09 into the third to give Columbus a 3-1 lead.

The only goal allowed by Mason came from Vernon Fiddler in the opening period that lifted the Stars into a 1-1 tie.

The result spoiled the return of Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen. He had not played since suffering an injury early in a game against Phoenix Nov. 26.
