Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Ryan Anderson's 22 points and Dwight Howard's 24 rebounds helped Orlando fight off a comeback bid Thursday and push the Magic to a 94-78 win over New Jersey.
The Magic opened as much as an 18-point lead in the second period but the Nets clawed their way back within three during the third quarter. Orlando then pulled away to win for the second time in three games.
The Nets have lost two of their three outings.
Jason Richardson added 16 for the Magic and Howard scored 16 points to go with his big rebounding performance. Orlando hit 9-of-21 from 3-point range.
Marshon Brooks led New Jersey with 17 points. Deron Williams scored 10, but made just 2-of-12 field goal tries.
