Nationals sign utility man DeRosa

WASHINGTON, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Veteran utility man Mark DeRosa, who spent the past two seasons with the San Francisco Giants, Wednesday signed a one-year deal with the Washington Nationals.

The versatile but oft-injured DeRosa, 36, appeared in only 73 games for the Giants.

He also played for the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and Saint Louis Cardinals, playing six different positions while hitting a career .272 with 179 doubles, 93 home runs and 452 RBI.
